Why We Built Redyoos to Be Free and Simple — The Essentials
Share
Hello Friends,
I’m Cleo Escarez — founder of Redyoos. I want to share with you why I created Redyoos, how my journey led here, and why we made a conscious choice to keep our program free and simple.
My Beginning: From Fashion to Purpose
Before Redyoos, I spent years in the fashion and consumer goods world including leadership roles at major companies. During that time I loved design, product, and the challenge of business. But increasingly I felt a tension: Why are we creating so much new when so much already exists? Why are precious resources being used as if they’re infinite?
In many conversations and in my own home I saw the same dilemma: jewelry sitting untouched in drawers, broken pieces, sentimental-items we don’t wear. Meanwhile, mining was still happening, metals being extracted, environmental consequences mounting. “I started asking: why are we still mining when there’s gold in every drawer?”
That question changed everything for me.
The Redyoos Vision
I founded Redyoos to change that story. Our vision is straightforward: to enable every person to recycle their jewelry — any piece, any condition — through a trusted, no-cost, no-hassle program.
- Free: Because I believe cost shouldn't be a barrier to doing the right thing.
- Simple: Request a mail-in kit, drop your items, we handle the rest.
- Transparent: Every piece logged, tracked, and reported so you know where it goes.
Why Free and Simple?
Free
Too many recycling programs require fees, confusing instructions, or exclusions. That creates friction — and most people simply leave their old jewelry in the drawer or worse, toss it. We wanted to remove the excuses.
Simple
Complexity kills action. We’ve seen this in fashion, where returns, repairs, disposal all get too hard. We designed Redyoos so you don’t need to clean, sort, or even know the metal type. You just send it. We do the rest.
The Core Process
Here’s how it works:
- You request a free Redyoos Mail-In Kit.
- You send in any jewelry — broken, sentimental, plated, sterling or gold.
- We receive the kit in Seattle, log it, sort it, identify metals, decide reuse vs recycle.
- We divert as much as possible from landfill, and we track every step so you know it was done right.
Because our process is built on trust, not just words.
My Why: Personal and Planetary
For me it wasn’t just business. I am a mother, a consumer, and someone who cares about legacy. The legacy I want to leave isn’t just profit, it’s purpose. When I look at the earth, our resources, our communities, I see opportunity to shift from extraction to regeneration.
And when I looked at jewelry, items we often keep but rarely reflect on, I saw a chance: let’s reclaim value, honor memories, and build something better.
What I Hope for You
I hope you’ll take a moment to open that jewelry drawer. Take one piece you no longer wear and consider that it still holds value for you, someone else, or the planet.
And if you’re ready, wrap it in our mailer, send it off, and feel a little lighter. Because when you recycle that piece, you’re not losing a memory, you’re creating a future.
Thank you for trusting Redyoos. Thank you for joining this journey from purpose to action. We’re in this together.
Warmly,
Cleo
